CIM – Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Mechatronics is a branch of engineering that focuses on designing, manufacturing and maintaining products that have both mechanical and electronic components and CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) is a method of manufacturing in which the entire production process is controlled by computer.

The proposal of De Lorenzo for this CIM product is to give the students the possibility for transversal applications in many didactic areas such as Automation, Pneumatics, Electronics, Mechatronics and Process Control. Industrial units are used and can be composed to reproduce either a single basic application or a complete manufacturing system. It can be interfaced to a PLC or to Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition software (SCADA). It is especially designed for engineering graduates.

This trainer simulates the operation of an industrial robot, such as: overall rotation, arm rotation, forearm rotation, wrist rotation, gripper rotation, gripper opening/ closing.   It integrates different technologies, such as belt drive transmission technology, stepper motor driving, position detection, PLC and microprocessor technology. The trainer can be controlled by MCU and PLC.
